AEF Committees & Event Funding
The Middletown Chapter of the Alpha Delta Phi Society operates nine committees charged with the planning of educational events and other programs for the campus community. The committees augment their own endeavors by providing funds to other campus groups planning events in line with the aims of their committees.
If you are interested in requesting funds from the AEF committees listed below, you should contact the Vice President of the Middletown Chapter (Spring 2007: Michael Edward Lavigne, Jr. '08). There are a number of restrictions on these funds because of the AEF's non-profit status; the basics are that AEF events must be free to the public and educational (as in, not purely social). AEF funds may not be used to purchase alcohol, and all events sponsored in whole or in part by the AEF must note in all their advertising that the Adelphic Educational Fund is a sponsor. In an effort to secure the future of AEF sponsorship of events at Wesleyan, the Chapter collects copies of all flyers, programs, newspaper articles, and other informational materials pertinent to those events to document what Fund sponsors each year. You should be prepared to collect those items for the AEF as a term of sponsorship.
Please know, we try our best to sponsor as many events on campus as we can each year, but our funds are not limitless. We look forward to discussing your event with you and determining whether AEF sponsorship is appropriate.
Committee Descriptions
ADLit Committee
ADLit is the house’s semi-annual literary magazine, which features original poetry, prose, and photography generated by members of the Wesleyan University community.
Assembly Series Committee
This is our best-funded committee and also the committee with the widest variety of the types of events it can fund. Any major educational events can fall under this committee's auspices.
Coffee House Committee
This committee plans several evenings of low-key music, warm beverages, and snacks--hosted in the Chapter House.
Community Service Committee
This committee supports community service endeavors on campus.
Faculty Fellows Committee
Faculty Fellows funds our interactions with professors. Whether it be getting a professor to come eat at the S&C and have a very low-key discussion about his or her academic interests or getting your favorite and very interesting professor to come and speak at the house more formally, it's a great way to introduce the house to some of the amazing professors who are out there.
Film Series Committee
This committee plans showings of motion pictures, both major films and smaller, independent ones.
Music Series Committee
This committee funds concerts on campus, specifically those hosted by the Chapter House itself.
Performance Series Committee
This committee funds theater, dance, and other performance art endeavors on campus.
Poetry & Literature Committee
As the title suggests, this committee deals with poetry and literature. Events can be anything from a literature ball, to a poetry reading, to anything else that can be considered educational in some way and has to do with appreciation of the written word.
